Every kiss offers a special connection to the other person if it’s coming from someone in love with you. Whether it’s a kiss of friendship, passion or a warm greeting, it sends out strong vibes.



There’re so many options of kiss to choose from. You will kiss your significant other much differently than that of a dear friend. The way you hug a friend is also different from the way you hug your partner.

Here are some of the different types of kisses and what they really mean.

1. Kiss on the hand.
This is when you grasp a persons’ hand with your fingers gently and kiss the back of the palm. It’s a polite move and one that shows your admiration and passion for someone. It could also be used as a show of respect for the other person especially if they’re way older.

2. Single lip kiss.
A subtle single lip kiss is where you suck and insert their lip between yours at the same time. This is a suggestive kiss that lets the other person know that you are very much into them and hope for a chance soon.

3. The forehead kiss.
A kiss on the forehead is a gentle expression of admiration. Usually it is a kiss of friendship or a starter kiss for something romantic later. There’s no particular time to do this as it can be used to ease pain, show appreciation and it can be used to say good night.



4. Butterfly kiss.
When two people get so close to each others face while they kiss that their eyelashes connect is called ‘Butterfly kiss.’ This kind of kiss and it’s gesture is for those madly in love with each other with some serious/deep connection.

5. The eskimo kiss.
There is a genuine reason why this kiss of affection is called ‘The eskimo kiss’ and here’s the reason. The Eskimo Kiss is believed to be the romantic option for those who live in cold climates, otherwise there’s risk of lips getting stuck together. When two noses rub up against each other and move back and forth. It’s affectionate and often given from a parent to their child.

6. The Spiderman or opposite position/ horizontal kiss.
This sensual kiss has been in existence before the movie ‘Spiderman’.  The epic kiss was featured in one of the scenes with Spiderman upside down and Mary Jane is standing right side up. This is less risky when doing horizontally on the couch or bed and is a kiss of passion between lovers.

7. The cheek kiss/peck.
A short peck on the cheek, often in combination with a hand on the arm or a half embrace. Its meanings are dependent on where you are in the world. For some cultures, it’s a hello or goodbye, while some attach deeper meaning to it.

8. “Leave a mark” kiss.
With reference to #7, leave a mark kiss is also known as the lipstick kiss.  Here a girl puts lipstick on and kisses her partner on the cheek, neck or lips. This leaves a mark and is usually just a playful gesture or for something more romantic later.

9. Air kisses.
Mostly used for salutation and can be seen in old French movies. It’s done by giving out a “MUAH” in the air. It could be beside someone’s cheek or from a distance. Sometimes it’s done on both cheeks depending on what country you’re in. It’s popular among celebs and can also be seen within family and friends. It’s a romantic/non romantic/friendly gesture depending on the circumstances/environment and those using it.

10. Earlobe kiss.
This all encompassing kiss is targeting an erogenous zone and for most, it’s kind of a big deal because the earlobe is somewhat sensitive. You accomplish this by gently kissing or nibbling the ear on the earlobes. This kiss is known to be one of the most romantic kisses between lovers because it’s not likely used if nothing is expected in return or when the atmosphere isn’t right – you understand right?


11. Kiss of an angel.
This is a gentle kiss on someone’s eyelids and is a sweet gesture between two people that deeply love each other. A mother can do it to her child or a husband can do it to his wife.

As the name implies, a lingering kiss entails a lot of lip to lip kissing for long periods of time. It’s full of intense emotion and passion and is often used by new lovers. Energy is used up here unlike air kiss.

13. The bite/nibble - kiss.
The bite/nibble - kiss is strictly reserved for those in romantic relationship. This involves subtle bites/nibbles on certain parts of a person’s features such as the nose, cheeks, chin, hands and eventually a kiss is planted somewhere. The bite/nibble - kiss is a deeply sensual kiss that is spontaneous between lovers.

14. The jaw kiss.
The jaw kiss is a gentle and yet incredibly sensual as you kiss your partner’s jaw. This kiss is for those that are already in love and close to each other.

15. Secret message kiss.
This is when lovers send erotic and non erotic messages while French kissing so others don’t know about it just like in James Bond movies. It’s for people that are very close to each other and sees each other in their future.

16. The vampire/sucking kiss.
Just like in vampire movies that blood-sucking is key, in vampire kiss, there’s no blood involved but sucking is key. The vampire kiss is a deep passionate kiss on the neck, checks and sometimes on the lips that includes sucking and a bit of biting like the bite/nibble – kiss in #13. 17. Lizard kiss.
This is where the tongue rapidly goes in and out of the mouth in quick strokes. It’s
a passionate kiss for lovers that are hot and heavy into each other like rock ‘n’ roll.

18. The big tease.
This process can last for several minutes or even hours just like #12 above. You continuously tease your partner while getting to explore their body with your lips starting from the forehead or anywhere convenient for you while making your way all the way down and touching - nerves. One would say this is a much invested method of foreplay and dedicated to lovers because it is.

19. Ice cream kiss.
Ice cream kiss is unique in its way. It’s spontaneous and used playfully among lovers. You can spice things up with songs from your favorite soul artist and have a good ending.

20. The French kiss.
I saved this for the least because it’s cool and it’s for those in a romantic and lovely relationship. The French kiss involves plenty of tongue action and mastery like #12, #13 and #16. French kiss is not easy to master and it is derived from passion, romance and desire and it flows with your emotions. Note: not everyone love to French kiss maybe because of the plenty of tongue action involved.
